Disclaimer - The Legal Stuff
This website is designed to publicise things to do and places to go in Rutland and surrounding areas. Rutland County Council does not accept any liability for the projects and services listed in the website.
However, if you do want to access any of the activities listed, we have put together a checklist for you that will help you know what to look for:
You need to think about things such as:
- Is it appropriate for your age?
- Is the activity for people who live in your area?
- Can you afford to go if there is a cost?
- Tell your parent(s) and/or carer about the activities and check that its ok to go.
- How will you get there and get home?
- Do they have CRB 's and policies and procedures in place for working with young people?
All people who organise activities for young people must have a 'CRB certificate'. This tells you that they don't have a criminal record of child abuse. Check that all the people who run the activity have a certificate.
You have a right to have fun and be safe. The things in the list below can be signs of child abuse or bullying. Talk to Childline 0800 1111, go to www.there4me.com or talk to someone you trust if you see any of these signs:
If the people who run the activity:
- Do not allow your parents or carers to stay during the activity
- Show favouritism to you or other young people
- Invite you or other young people to spend time with them alone
- Encourage racist, sexist or homophobic behaviour
- Encourage inappropriate physical contact
- Take your photograph without your permission
